A 25-cent Orange Martini with a smile.
Darrell’s been at Antoine’s in the family business for three generations… or was it four? Was it two Orange Martinis I downed, or three? For 25-cents a drink, I lost count. I’m not usually one who powers booze down in the afternoon, but hey, we were in New Orleans … with our friends Ted & Merrie, taking a break from the car convention … and it seemed like the right thing to do. Besides, the rally wasn’t until the next day and we were in a rental anyway. Our waiter met us with a friendly smile and told us how he’s been following tradition for generations, and what can I say? Two drinks later — or was it three? — I vowed to write him a note when I got home, and I did.
