Anonymous thanks to the gentleman who closed my trunk today.
My shoulder’s been hurting for a few weeks and I finally got myself to the chiropractor.
I parked on the street, middle of the day, paid at a complicated new meter and went inside.
An hour or so later, I came back down to see a white piece of paper folded into the side window near the wheel.
“Sh-t,” I thought. “How did I get a ticket?”
I hate that.
But it wasn’t a ticket.
It was a note — from a good Samaritan who had noticed I had accidentally left my trunk open.
Written on a nice piece of lined paper, the phone # added at the bottom.
As soon as I got home, I called to leave a ‘thank you’ for my unknown angel.
He called back a few minutes later, and I got to thank him again.
“I left my trunk open a few months ago and my luggage was taken,” he said. “I saw your trunk
open — and thought maybe you were unloading. But when I came back from the building
nearby and saw it still open… I wanted to spare you.”
I told him I would pass along the good deed… and tell the world, which is what I am doing now.
Thank you, Helpful Person. Thank you for caring about your next door parking neighbor.
And thank you for taking the time to make a difference. I appreciate you.
