A bi-coastal bracelet for two best friends.

We started our day buying long underwear.  It was C-O-L-D in New York, and I was freezing!  After a thorough investigation of UNIQLO (I highly recommend it!) Alison, who was Jamie’s college roommate at RISD  (and like a second daughter to me) escorted me down Fifth Avenue to Henri Bendel.  She works for a major shoe designer on Fifth Avenue and it’s her “hood”.  Henri Bendel is a jewel box of a store, and naturally we didn’t get further than the lobby — where the gold & silver nestled, drawing us in.

As we looked at the unique pieces, I had a brainstorm.  I asked Alison, who was studying each piece as the artist she is,

Not the ones we got. images“Why don’t I get you and Jamie matching friendship bracelets?”

I remember having things like that when I was little…and it always made me happy to look down at my finger or wrist and be reminded of my missing link.

Thus the search began.

After a lot of comparison shopping, and cross-country texting & photo displaying to Jamie, Alison settled on a combination.

Now she and Jamie wear their reminders of each other almost every day… because they’re separated by a continent, but their hearts can still be connected.
