Book Soup.
Justin Wilkes is my hero.
He promised his new wife that he’d go “off the grid” on their honeymoon.
No computer. No phone.
But he couldn’t go cold turkey.
So he figured out a way to stay in touch: he bought a portable typewriter!!
When I was in New York for a RISD Board meeting, I went to visit Justin and his machine.
We made a vow that we’d only communicate by typed note, never by e-mail.
We’ve broken our vow — just a wee bit — but I wanted him to see these wonderful cards, and
I was delighted when I found a box at BOOK SOUP last night.
(I was there for my writing teacher LINDA SCHREYER’S book signing — TEARS & TEQUILA).
(Note: PICK UP A COPY OR ORDER IT FROM AMAZON!)
The colorful cards are in the mail to him today.
With a typed note, of course.
