Camp Grounded.

Tonight I heard and met LEVI FELIX, the co-founder and Camp Director of “CAMP GROUNDED”.
He says we’re all addicted to our phones and computers, to social media.
We need to unplug.
He had us all take a selfie before the lecture began, post it to some form of social media, then turn off our phones
and not wait for the response.
I volunteered to speak at Camp Grounded about writing thank-you notes.
I’d seen a story about the camp in the New York Times, and how they have typewriters in the meadow
to help people ‘get in the flow’ when they’re suffering communication withdrawal.
He talked about how gratitude is proven to lessen depression. How typing, writing by hand, doing art,
getting connected back with ourselves is vitally important.
When the evening was over, I turned on the phone — and my poorly-shot selfie was getting responses.
I’ll type a note to Levi tomorrow… he was terrific.
