A card party in mid-Century Pasadena.
My friend Laura and I went to see Daniele at her new home in Pasadena today.
Laura’s redecorating her own new house, so we were cruising along, looking for paint colors she liked.
I was navigator.
We cruised along, checking out the colors on Daniele’s street.
We talked about what our dream houses looked like. Mine was mid-Century Modern, like the Eichler I grew up
in back in Palo Alto.
“We’re getting closer,” I said, reading the map.
“That’s the color!” Laura announced. A light gray mid-Century Modern with a lemon yellow door.
“That’s the house!” I shrieked.
Needless to say, we were psyched from the second we walked in the sunny entry.

And because Daniele made all her own Indian food — I was so impressed, I promised to send her one
of the very few “COOKING FOR VIN” cookbooks I have left… the book my father wrote that contains
all his best and beloved recipes. I know she’ll like it.
