Massage at The Montage.

My cousins Marla and Peter Gropper came down from Vancouver, Canada for my party. They got me a great gift — a certificate for a massage from The Montage, a hotel in Beverly Hills.  I’m going to make an appointment tomorrow — right after I post this letter! Please Share

Childhood friends.

Jamie’s been friends with Nicole ever since they were in nursery school at Temple Isaiah.  Her first sleepover was at Nicole’s house… and I was close with Nicole’s mother, who died when the children were young.  I wanted Nicole to know that her Mom would have been proud of the strong young woman she’s become,…

Sleep deprived.

My sister Annie knows I’ve always had a hard time falling asleep.  So her birthday gift included everything I could possibly need to find slumber. A scented lavendar mask. Spray for my pillow. Foot lotion and socks to tuck my tired feet into and not mess up the sheets. And to cap it all off…

Sculptural bracelet.

After I wrote this letter and posted it, I saw how many typos I made.  I must be feeling the jet lag, I’ve decided.  In the spirit of ‘first draft, final draft’, I’ll let it go… but since Karen’s an editor, I’ll let her have the thrill of finding the mistakes! Please Share

A silver roll and Tiffany blue.

Ted and Merrie couldn’t get to my party but theirs was the first gift to arrive. Anything from Tiffany & Company holds a fascination for me… and the silver jewelry roll inside was exquisite.  I felt guilty we had to travel before I could write my note, so I made sure to ‘catch up’ this morning…

Brazilian bombshells.

Michele Silva, founder of Bentevi Swimwear, went above & beyond. She organized beautiful models to wear her swimsuits for my birthday party… and she gave me a swimsuit of my own, along with Brazilian soap, lip gloss, a beach hat and a beach bag. I wrote her a separate more ‘corporate’ reference letter, but wanted…

Palo Alto Fire Fighters.

http://www.paloaltofirefighters.com/ My nephew Ian McKee lives in Palo Alto, and although he was invited to come to my birthday party, it was a bit of a hike… so he did the next best thing and sent a reminder of my home town … this Palo Alto Fire Fighters pepper sauce.  Evidently it’s an award-winner —…

Hendricks.

I love Gin & Tonic. I order it where ever I go — and Henricks is my favorite.  Dominic learned that somehow — either from watching me when we’re out or from Jamie — and he gave me a bottle for my birthday.  It will go to good use. Please Share

Party Animals.

My trainer Brian always encourages me to eat healthy. Unfortunately, I have good intentions and poor follow-through. He gave me a gift card for Whole Foods for my birthday, which I promise — you’re my witness — to use for green choices.  Don’t tell him I just ate half a bag of peanut butter M&M’s!…

Not jaded.

Sue Brennan — or Suzanne Nathan as she’s now known — has been my friend since Jordan Junior High, when we met as innocent seventh graders.  We’ve gone through a lot together, and now she lives in Boston — but we see each other whenever I’m there or she’s in California visiting her folks. Sue…
