Checkerboard cake and Champagne.

Ted and Merrie give an annual New Year’s party, with a hearty goal to thrust as many appetizers in our mouths while slamming empty Champagne bottles into a wooden dowel in the living room. (The fact that most of us drive home and are in a vintage car club doesn’t seem to be a problem).

Although the guys mostly talk parts, the women get personal.  (This year Vin and I also shared how terrified we were about the upcoming convention we’re chairing, and everyone properly terrified us with their own harrowing disaster stories of when THEY were in charge).  When dessert was offered, I had a happy flashback to a cake I made long ago, so I mentioned that in my TY note.
