Chocolate that’s a religious experience.

2014_05_03_08_57_42I don’t cook all that often, but I do have a few tried & true recipes that I trot out on the holidays.

One of them is for Passover.  “Chocolate Toffee Matzo”, first seen by my sister Annie in the Orange County Register, of all places.

I’ve made it over & over, even sent it to my friend Darlene’s son Ethan when he was in college in Ohio and craving a taste of home.

This year Marc & Jodie & their daughter Jacqueline couldn’t come to California for Passover, so I shipped out a box to them too.

Jacqueline, age 12, took the time to write me this delightful response.

My favorite line:  “I brought some to school in my lunch box and now all of the kids that tasted some want to convert to Judaism”.

Sometimes chocolate IS the great equalizer!  Maybe she’s onto something… a new way to achieve world peace, through candy.

(Here’s Martha Stewart’s version of the recipe in case you want to throw calories to the wind & try it.)

You are as sweet as the chocolate matzoh.
