Clean & honest.
I’ve gone to Pico Cleaners for so long that Jacob, the owner and his brother Shervin saw my daughter Jamie grow up.
I trust them implicitly and they in turn know & look out for me.
When Vin’s cleaners went under — in one horrific ‘disappeared in the night’ weekend — he reluctantly switched to mine.
He needed to train them a bit. Don’t use extra paper. Watch out for the buttons. His quirks & requests improved their
performance each week.
But one thing he couldn’t have anticipated.
Honesty.
Yesterday Gloria, who helps maintain our household accounts, came in with her arms full…
She was waving about a fistful of $20-dollar bills.
“They found this at the laundry!” she exclaimed, and thrust the wad toward me.
“Two hundred dollars!” she said.
Found in Vin’s pants.
An employee turned it in.
When I called to tell him, Vin remembered losing it.
He’d gotten money at the carwash and pushed the greenbacks
into his pants… spilled something on himself and taken the the booty
right to Pico Cleaners.
Obviously, nobody checked the pockets.
I’m going to write a letter to Pico tonight.
They are now the “Abraham Lincoln” of establishments and my loyalty continues to
be well-placed.

Eloquently stated for an inspiring act of honesty.
