Crowd control, women in labor, and lit-up Mickey Mouse hats.

images-1It takes a pro to wrangle television audiences.  Especially when the crowds are tired, wired, waiting for hours to get in… and the shoot begins at midnight.

The “America’s Funniest Videos” Stage Manager/2nd Associate Director Peter didn’t blink when 700 eager folks were ushered into the park after waiting for it to close, wearing lit-up hats with strobe lights on Mickey  Mouse hats that were bright enough to blind an unwitting cow in a dark pasture.

He escorted young families with even younger children up way past their bedtimes… took them back and forth from their trailers, soothed frazzled parents dealing with potential meltdowns.

When one audience member went into labor — you heard me right! — he carefully bundled her into an ambulance and off to the hospital within minutes.

“That was a first”, he said, always a master of understatement.  I’ll say.  My hat’s off to you, Peter.  And mine’s not the light-up type.
