I went to a new bookstore tonight — DIESEL. In the Brentwood Country Mart, it’s one of the few remaining independent bookstores around.
My writing teacher Linda Schreyer just published her first novel — “TEARS AND TEQUILA”.
I wanted to support her, buy a copy, and have her sign it.
I ended up falling in love with the bookstore, too.
Linda’s publisher told me how much she treasures hand-written “Thank You” notes… and it made me think, “Why shouldn’t I write one to thank the owners of the bookstore? They’ve worked so hard to curate just the best books and keep it open for all of us.” I looked up their names online (thank you, Internet) and will send them my appreciation in tomorrow’s mail.

And a big shout-out tonight to LINDA SCHREYER on her marvelous achievement.

Wonderful Erica Di Bona came to our standing room only book signing tonight at Diesel:a book store. The event was terrific, with Revel tequila on hand and a crowd of about 80. Thank you, thank you, thank you, all. And now, please take a look at how Erica uses words to transform a thank you note into a work of art.” (Posted by Linda Schreyer on FB)
Erica, you expressed exactly how I felt in the Diesel bookshop tonight. It reminded me of book readings of the past and the hours I spent browsing and then buying real books. I love the tactile experience of turning pages. And it was great to be there with you sharing our love of books and Linda Schreyer and “Tears and Tequila.”
