May
Joyful at 8…and 40-something.
Sometimes something good can come out of something bad.
Nobody likes Traffic School.
But when Ian and I ended up in the same class — and he was the class clown, asking for extra time during
the breaks and keeping everyone awake — I recognized immediately that he was someone I wanted to know.
We talked after class in the parking lot for several hours… and that friendship continued, long after the
ticket had been paid off… and the memory of sitting in the windowless Marriott for 8 long hours had abated.
Ian’s birthday is tomorrow so I sent him a card…on the theory that it’s always fun to get something
other than a bill — or a parking ticket! — in the mail.
