We had a mini-reunion the other night.  Friends from long ago, we shared our shattered lives and broken hearts… and lived to tell the tale.

After dinner with my friend Jonathan, I realized it had been 15 years  — but it was like no time had elapsed.

We got into the real story of our lives.

No embellishment.  No pretense.  Pure and honest.

Conversation laced into the fabric of one’s soul.

After he drove back to Orange County at midnight — after our two hour catch-up —

I wanted to let him know how much I appreciate our friendship and the fact

we can still pick up where we left off,  finish the sentences of each other’s lives

without judgment… and be reminded of how we felt when we all first met.

Old friends.
