Keeping an “eye on the ball”… handling details big & small.
After a shoot in Hawaii, I was inspired to thank the 6-foot-4 stage manager, Robert, who glides through the 12-hour day, marking his script as he tracks details big and small.
We worked together on a kids’ game show 24 years ago, when I was pregnant and ordering roast beef for the crew because I secretly craved horseradish.
Robert maneuvers around a television stage like a skater on Rollerblades. Smooth. Never rattled, even when the s— hits the fan. I observed him in Hawaii and wanted to remind him of his excellence. He was so touched, he told me later, that he put my letter in a frame and was trying to decide what wall it should hang on. That made me happy.
