Mail from 5 years ago… saved.
People tell me they save my notes, and I’ve heard it so much I tend to think it’s hyperbole. A fews days ago, on the way to meet jeweler Alex Bitter, my friend Gloria G. said, “I have something to show you.”
She pulled out a letter on stationery I admired — a yellow note with a vintage typewriter drawn on front that spelled out “THANKS”.
“Cool notecard,” I said.
“It’s from you,” she answered.
Sure enough, when I opened it up — there were my words, coming back to remind me from 2008.
“I told you I keep all your letters,” Gloria beamed.
It made me feel good to know she cares. It also reminds me how a piece of mail has a longer expiration date than a phone call, text, Tweet, or e-mail.
