Baby brother loves his chocolate.

I introduced my brother Steve to JOHN KELLY CHOCOLATES.  I’m afraid I’m a bit like a heroin dealer — giving him just a taste… because now he’s definitely addicted.  Luckily I can get them at Neiman Marcus now, I just found out, although the trek to the store in Santa Monica  is more fun. (It…

Spaghettini & Route 66.

http://vincentingala.com/2013/ For years I’ve heard about “Spaghettini and the Dave Koz Lounge”.  It was a regular jazz offering on 94.7 THE WAVE, and I caught that wave quite often. When I noticed “Spaghettini” had opened up next door to SPAGO on Canon Drive — I was ecstatic. We booked brunch with our friends Lloyd &…

Put a teabag in your shoe…

….and other helpful hints in this story about the perfect closet that my sister Annie sent me. One helpful piece of information said to “put a teabag into smelly shoes”. Annie wrote “News to me!” I haven’t tried that yet.  The whole notion of it was a bit repulsive, to tell you the truth. Even…

Camp Grounded.

http://digitaldetox.org/camp-grounded/ Tonight I heard and met LEVI FELIX, the co-founder and Camp Director of “CAMP GROUNDED”. He says we’re all addicted to our phones and computers, to social media. We need to unplug. He had us all take a selfie before the lecture began, post it to some form of social media, then turn off…

An alley full of magic.

I got a really pretty pink card from Marisa Murrow, an artist from RISD.  I’d written a letter of reference for her … and she sent me an original photograph that she’d taken in the alley behind her studio.  She wrote, “I love how magical the light moves through my hand”.  I agree. Please Share

After Annie’s birthday…

My sister Annie graciously shared her birthday weekend with my Mom’s 90th.  I had a good time finding her a new Spring wardrobe, and a pair of bling-y silver tennis shoes… which she put on the next day and seems to be wearing to every venue she can. Please Share

Phone company comes through.

Our phone system didn’t work.  We called AT&T, and to my delight — and surprise — got a technician who knew what he was doing.  Aaron told me, as I typed away, “I’m going to have to pull the server, is that OK?”   I allowed as to how that’s no problem — “I can…

Councilmember Tom LaBonge gives Proclamation to a 90-year-old.

https://www.facebook.com/gloria.gordon.735507?fref=ts&ref=br_tfhttps://www.facebook.com/gloria.gordon.735507?fref=ts&ref=br_tf A few days before my friend Gloria Gordon turned 90, we took her to an event  at the Hollywood Museum.  When Councilmember Tom LaBonge heard me tell him — he jumped on it immediately.  He flipped me his card and whispered, “Call my office.  We’ll get her a Proclamation”.  He did just that, and…

Clean teeth and dirty purses.

I like having a dental hygienist who’s a bit freaky about dirt. She can floss (herself) for 20 minutes non-stop. She’s got endless patience for finding even the tiniest hint of a problem. The other day, she noticed a problem.  Root canal looked suspicious. She dropped everything, called for X-rays, and her theory was confirmed….
