My “mini-me” — maybe?

Photo:  Before my father’s 90th “dim sum luncheon” birthday in Berkeley — May 2013… Jamie, my husband Vin and me… * Around midnight, after her 12-hour production day, my daughter rolls in.  I’m at my desk, working on …this blog… the television blasting (football, I’m not listening) and out of nowhere, she asks (a) for my…

A condolence in a briefcase.

When someone dies, it’s hard to find the words.  How can you capture what that person contributed to the world in a few sentences? After my sister Kitty passed,  cards and notes I got from friends – even as far back as high school — helped capture snippets of who she was, especially when fragments…

Typewriters fly – on Delta.

We were on a conference call for Rhode Island School of Design and waiting for it to begin.  My friend Jon K. mentioned he liked a letter I’d done — on the typewriter — and asked how I’d transmitted it to various folks on the Board.  “Was it an app?” he asked. “Typewriter,” I chirped….

Thanks for the thanks … & so on & so on…

A visit to Mecca.

Dearly beloved Bonnie…

Bonnie was a wonderful producer, a strong mentor to many young women, and it is a loss to the entire entertainment industry that she left us so soon. Please Share

Crowd control, women in labor, and lit-up Mickey Mouse hats.

It takes a pro to wrangle television audiences.  Especially when the crowds are tired, wired, waiting for hours to get in… and the shoot begins at midnight. The “America’s Funniest Videos” Stage Manager/2nd Associate Director Peter didn’t blink when 700 eager folks were ushered into the park after waiting for it to close, wearing lit-up…
