Peninsula rooftop & a doppelganger.
I had lunch with my friends Denise Avchen and Ava Fries today on the rooftop of The Peninsula Hotel.
We hadn’t seen each other in a while and wanted to catch up.
I had a business call at 1:30PM, and retreated for twenty minutes. Ava and Denise were kind enough to wait — and we went downstairs together to collect our cars.
As I stood in line to pay — I noticed my friend Peter Stein, who’s a fellow Board member of Rhode Island School of Design. He was there for another meeting — and it was great to see him since he lives a long commute away.
I noticed a man arranging the flowers who looked just like another Trustee — Jon Kamen.
“Isn’t that Jon’s doppelganger?” I asked Peter, pointing to the flower-arranger. Peter totally agreed, and we asked a compliant doorman in a white Peninsula hat to document the small world moment.
