Penpal Cate asks, “What is a typewritter like?”

Cate Ferrall, my 8-year-old penpal from New York, asked a searing question.

“I wanted to know what a typewritter is like sines you have one mabye you could

tell me about it.  I see typewritters in movies.

I thought about my answer for a few days, because I sensed this was an important

question that deserves a well-considered response.

I also included a few pieces of stationery that are properly festooned with my

favorite object, to distribute the wealth and hopefully spread the fever.
