TY-Bryan Mowry

I’d been on the road since last Saturday.  I called our trip, “Trains, Planes & Automobiles”.

By the time I’d flown with Vin and his daughter & her family to New York… then AMTRAK’d it to Newport, Rhode Island to see his mother … and then braved the snowy East to get back to Palo Alto to see MY parents — I was tired.

My final airport was San Jose, on the much-vaunted, highly-feared busiest travel day of the year.

Bryan the limo driver picked me up at the Stanford Park Hotel, where I always stay when I come to Palo Alto.

He smiled, and I decided, “Maybe I’m not totally talked out”.    We ended up having a really nice conversation.  The traffic was so bad a the airport he had to zip into a parking lot on the side to avoid the crowds.

I had my tip for him in my hand — but as we exchanged cards — he gave me his card — and I pulled out my driver’s license for the TSA — I ran off to the gate and it wasn’t until I got there that I realized I’d never given him the money.

Today as promised I wrote him a ‘nice to meet you’ note — and enclosed the tip, even though he told me not to worry.
