Remodels and tomato storage.

We decided to have lunch today, last-minute, after both of us had morning appointments.

I didn’t have a reservation anywhere, but I figured, “Hey, it’s Beverly Hills, how hard can it be?”

Wrong.

Beverly Drive was crawling.  My first choice, The Beverly Grill was packed, the valet told us.

We went to Barney’s, where I thought Vivian would like sitting outside and having whitefish on the roof.

Wrong.

Closed for remodel.

We cruised Wilshire.

Neiman-Marcus would have two places, I thought.

Wrong.

The “Fresh Market” or whatever they call it was closed.  Remodel.

We ended up downstairs at the fancy restaurant, waited another 20 minutes to get in, but it was worth it.

Vivian loved the popovers.

We got the “A” table.

And once we finally found our place, we had a lovely birthday lunch.

Next time I’ll think ahead and get a reservation.

But for today, it all worked out.
