RISD swag.

I sent some Rhode Island School of Design ‘swag’ to Andrea, a friend of my father’s who takes the same (rigorous) cardio class up in Berkeley.

I’d worn my black RISD t-shirt — the only one I have — to class, and Andrea came up to me afterwards.

“I went to Brown,” she began, “but we all went down to RISD for the parties.”

She said she had great feelings about the students there, and would love to promote RISD, and could I send her some swag?

Of course, I promised, and when I got back to Los Angeles, I found a tote bag and a coffee mug for her, which I promptly shipped off to her.

I liked the part of her letter where she wrote, “Your father is a remarkable man”.

He’s 91 and still bouncing around like a teenager.

It’s good to know Andrea’s got his back… literally … she stands right behind him in the last row!
