Sangria & a new bride.
I attended a bridal shower yesterday — in Teylor’s backyard, where her friends had created an ambience that felt like the old South… with baby’s breath tied on the backs of the festooned chairs… Sangria and Champagne, wine and other beverages to sip… all of it al fresco under the weeping willow branches of her nurturing trees.
I sat with Ruthann, the bride’s mother, whom I had never met before, and by the end of the event, I felt like we were old friends.. family, even better.. and it made me happy and sad, because it’s many years later and I still don’t feel as welcomed by my husband’s family as I did here…by total strangers.
