Siamese sadness.
What does one say to a person who’s loved their cat… nursed it for years … and finally has to bid it a sad goodbye?
Condolence letters are hard enough to write.
A condolence letter for an animal is even more difficult.
I tried to imagine what it must have felt like for Gloria S. to lose her beloved Siamese…and I wrote from a place
of empathy, although I’ve never experienced having an animal for twenty-one years — or helping it survive multiple
medical challenges. I hope my letter helps.
One thing I do know: a well-placed sympathy card can ease the pain, if only that it reminds us that we’re not
alone and someone else is thinking of us kindly as we grieve.
