St. Patrick’s day aftermath.
I’m about a sixteenth Irish — on my mother’s side. My friend Kate Brinegar, however is 100%. Each St. Patrick’s Day now
for at least ten years, I try to send her something in the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day.
I’ve found green elf socks from Target.
Deely-boppers with hideous tinselly fringe dripping off them.
Cheap “Made in China” bracelets that a four year old wouldn’t wear.
I like surprising Kate.
This year I almost didn’t make it. I didn’t have a card. And I couldn’t get an idea together
until I thought, “Wait — something to make an Irish coffee with!”
I tracked down a liquor delivery service, got them to put a “rush” on it, and we were in business.
Kate sent me this display.
Now it’s time for her to drink up & faith & begorrah.

So before she has a wee nip first thing in the morning in her coffee….
Let me tell you about a woman named Erica Di Bona…
Erica knows that I miss Chicago every St. Paddy’s Day where they go hog wild on March 17th
Erica knows I miss my very Irish family on St. Paddy’s Day for their insanity….
Erica knows that I grew up with Irish accents and Scottish brougs and she knew St. Paddy’s Day here was difficult….
Every St. Paddy’s Day Erica sends me a wee something Irish….
Every St. Paddy’s Day Erica is excited to hear that I LOVED her gift…
I can’t tell you how grateful and lucky I feel to have her as my family.
xxxKate (aka Kathleen)
