At the Seder, Darlene asked us all what freedom meant.  The most poignant moment

came when her mother Vivian, a Holocaust survivor said

quietly after everyone else had spoken, “During the war… freedom meant

a loaf of bread and a knife to cut it”.   We sat silently, knocked out by how

basic freedom can be  and how much we take our daily existence for granted.
