Acknowledgement makes you want to give more…

I was on the phone yesterday with Kim from the Da Vinci Design School.  We were talking about the importance of “soft social skills” for kids whose parents may not have taught them how important it is to reach out & network as a way to build one’s brand.  

I told Kim I believe the most basic human need is not to feel loved — but to FEEL APPRECIATED.

Which is why I write “THANK YOU” notes — as a way to show people I appreciate them & acknowledge what they’ve done.

It sticks.  Vin told me someone he was with at Disney in Florida last night pulled out a letter I’d written him a year ago — to re-read my compliments.  (I’d forgotten I’d written it.  I send my notes out in the world, sprinkled like fairy dust, and whatever lands, so be it.)
