More than an apple for the (ailing) teacher.

I’m always looking for validation of my theory that ‘thank you’s make the world ‘go round’.

School is back.

And this story about an elementary school teacher who’s battling cancer caught my eye.

Her husband asked other teachers to donate some of their ‘sick days’ to help.

She got 154 days…

and when she went back to class, a little girl marched up to the front of the class after school and handed her a get-well card.

“Thank you for teaching me today,” the girl told her.

You can bet that’s the kind of thing that will keep this teacher going even on the darkest days.

As someone who’s seen how teachers keep a meaningful letter — and as the sister of someone who fought cancer for 7 years — I know that a letter is a small but meaningful way to show someone you care.
