Brussel sprouts in Michigan.
Brian Lefler, my Co-Chair of the Rhode Island School of Design’s Parents Council, and I met in Novi, Michigan after I was at a Camp Kesem event in a little town named Fenton.
He was waiting in the lobby for me when I arrived, a comforting face indeed.
We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, and didn’t manage to finish the brussel sprouts — so Brian had them packaged up so he could take them home. Much to his chagrin, the maid unceremoniously threw them away. He chased after them, but they were gone. I included a recipe for “Brown Butter Brussel Sprouts” from PEOPLE magazine I’d just clipped — it’s not the same as the missing vegetables, but I thought he’d like the thought.
