Coffee and chocolate.
Sometimes an unexpected gift comes in the mail — another reason why I love my daily haul. A few days ago, I was getting sick with whatever it is that everybody seems to have… and finally admitted I wouldn’t get better on my own. I made a late-afternoon appointment with my doctor, and dragged into Beverly Hills at the end of the day. I walked past Teuscher Chocolatier — and thought, as I always do, “It would be fun to have a coffee there one day,” but because I was headed to the doctor’s, and didn’t have the extra ten minutes, I forced myself to walk on by.
When I got home — and Dr. Ruiz had patched me up — I found a letter from my friend John L., with two punch cards for a free coffee or “cafe au lait”, as John put it. It felt like divine intervention… and I wrote John to let him know.
(An editorial “Oops”: Spotted another typo in this letter, which also points out I’ve been sick. There have been a run of them this week, but once it’s typed and mailed out, unlike with the computer, there’s no way to get it back!)
