I had a few minutes to browse Neiman Marcus  — and a “triple points” coupon.  While Vin was upstairs getting some pants tailored, I cruised down to the new CUSP department, which had been recently remodeled in the Beverly Hills store.  I ended up finding a black mid-length cashmere skirt I liked, and with Adrienne the saleswoman’s help, we had it stripped off the mannequin so I could try it.

She asked, “Do you usually have someone you shop with here?” and I thought about it for a second before I realized, “No — you.”

I’ve got to admit, I usually spend more time at Office Depot than I do at Neiman-Marcus.  When Vin gave me a credit card there when we first got married, I even asked, “This is great, honey, but I’d rather have one for Office Depot!”

But here I was, with a coupon in my hand and time to kill… and I could tell the skirt on the model would be a good Fall piece.  Louie, the model-dresser, was called and he came down to strip it off the poor dummy.

I took it in the dressing room, hot off the cold body.  It fit perfectly, and I bought that and a few other staples — white T-shirt, white blouse, black sweater — before Vin was finished.  Adrienne had been a casting agent in Hollywood so recognized the name on my credit card —  and when he came down to join me, she was very gracious in her praise.  All that customer service merited a ‘thank you’, so I’m sending one off this morning to establish our new relationship.  And the best part is, now I’ll
