Polo/Ralph Lauren knows how to reach its customers.

Last week I got a candle from Saks, telling me about a Polo/Ralph Lauren trunk show.

This week Vic Miller from the main store — on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills — sent flowers.

In both cases, it made me think, “Gosh, I haven’t bought any Polo clothes in a long time.”

The green & white hydrangeas and lilies are my favorite color combination.  That’s what we

had at our wedding.   And Vic has ingrained himself in my memory, as a result of his

thoughtful reach-out.

Because he LOVES getting a typed note, I made sure to write him back within a day …

so he knows his gracious gesture did not go unnoticed.

(A few years ago when I sent a note to Vic’s associate Liz, he asked me later, “Was

that TYPED?”  He’d seen the envelope and couldn’t believe his eyes.  Since then I

make a point of sending him his own typed notes because I know he will notice!)
